On Monday, the café was packed.
“Can I sit here?”
No response.
He asked again. Nothing.
He tapped her shoulder. She looked up and started gesturing. Sign language.
 “Sorry,” he said, embarrassed.
She picked up a napkin and pen. “It’s ok. I’m Leah,” she wrote.
 “I’m Carson.”
“So… you like bagels?”
He laughed. “Yeah.”
“We have so much in common!” She sighed. “Lunch break’s almost over.”
“Are you eating here tomorrow?”
“I’ll be here.” She smiled and stood. He slipped the marked napkin in his pocket and ate his bagel.

On Tuesday, he grabbed a stack of napkins and waited.
